No,no. Not Photoshop.
This amazing piece of art is the work of my friend Shruti's brother Raviteja. He did it using, hold your breath, MS-paint!! Brilliant, isn't it?
Angery Butterfly,it doesn't have the sensitivity and depth of your works, but makes a good wallpaper, doesn't it?

Ummm, not much to write.Actually, not much time to write. Its our first college week and its hectic.See y'all in the weekend!Miss me!:-)

I was tagged by Micheala and here’s a part of me:

7 things I plan to do before I die

1.Get married and have 2 kids and 4 grandkids

2.Host a party with Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Johnny Depp, Shoaib Akhtar, John Abraham, Matt Damon, and Richard Gere as guests

3.Learn to play the guitar

4.Lose weight! I want to fit into those “haute couture” clothes

5.Sleep for 48 hours straight

6.Blog for 48 hours straight

7.Meet all you guys in person!:-)

7 things I can do

1.Sing in the bathroom without any kind of restraint

2.Watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S reruns forever

3.Talk about Harry Potter and Co. until you kill me

4.Tie my hair in a plait without help; I’m particularly proud of this- I had a rather hard time learning this, somehow.

5.Manage to get pass grades in the exam even after breaking a leg and missing most of the semester- I love to brag that I’m a nerd…

6.Watch horror movies calmly at midnight. Not a lot of my acquaintances can boast of this…

7.Blog! We must remember that millions don’t have the fortune to enjoy blogging. And we’ve not done so badly, have we? Yay for us, then!

7 things I cannot do

1.Pay attention in Edusat class. Correction. I don’t want to pay attention in Edusat class.

2.Resist terracotta jewellary- I’m compeletely hooked

3.Come first in class. Actually, this is wrong. If I really try, and stop doing fun things, I can beat those geeky first benchers. But then I’ll get labeled. It doesn’t matter anyway. I can come in second or third as well. As you can see, I’m not the competitive type.

4.Refuse chocolate. That would be a sin.

5.Say the word f*** aloud. See, I can’t even write it out. If I start, it becomes a persisitant habit, and soon I’ll start saying in front of family members. Its happened before, and the results weren’t pretty. My mom and dad like to think of me as a “good, traditional,Indian”.

6. Pull an all-nighter- I love sleep too much for that.

7.Fast/starve. I love food too much for that.

7 things that attract me to the opposite sex

1.Shoulder length hair

2.Deep, black eyes- like Rhett Butler’s.

3.Sense of humour- some one to make me laugh at myself

4.Intelligence- the best turn on

5.Non smoker- right from childhood, I’ve been sticking to this condition.

6.Must like dogs. This is THE criterion.

7.Actually, i look for a bit of Howard Roark in every man. Hard to find, I know… *sigh*

7 things that I say most often

1.What the heck

2.Enree, en samachara (whats up?)

3.How the hell am I supposed to know!!

4.Damn

5.Shit/crap

6.I understand (as if… I’m a terrible hypocrite..)

7.Hullo!

7 celebrity crushes

1.Shah Rukh Khan

2.John Abraham

3.Simon Cowell- I used to find his blunt manner attractive. Used to.

4.Lucy Liu ( Oh, yes..On a woman too..)

5.Brad Pitt

6.Jackie Chan.. you gotta love his fight sequences!

7.Joey Tribbiani- mind you, the character, not the actor.

I tag the first seven people who comment on this blog. Welcome!Got to sleep now, so toodles!

Thanks,Dane.*sigh* I know I've talked a lot about it,but i just can't get enough of the song!Listen and njoy!

I found this test in Heather's blog and said why not?And look!

Anamika, you've been crowned Miss Originality

They just don't make many like you. You're an independent thinker who creates her own style in everything you do, from choosing clothes, to solving problems, to planning your next big vacation. The judges sure made note of your one-of-a-kind spirit — it could have been the belly dancing routine, or the funky formal wear — or it could have just been the way you sashayed across the stage with a little extra attitude.

Your unique way of looking at the world makes you a lot of fun to hang around. Who knows what you'll say next — or what fantastic plan you'll come up with for Friday night. So, Beauty Queen, need a platform that's as original as you are? How about encouraging others to stop worrying about fitting in, and start celebrating all our delicious differences?

And did you miss the new blogroll, photo, template and all that?

I went to the Rising,at last. Not with my family, with my pre-university classmates. It was an all girl reunion, with samosas and bhelpuri at the mall, and then off to the cinema hall.

I can’t say I liked the movie. That would be a lie. But I was inspired. As a member of the second generation of people born after independence,I felt that the film somewhat invoked the dormant patriotism in me. Somewhat. Clearly, this film is not a lagaan.

Here are some pics of the cast.

The film starts off with the “Mangal Mangal” song.At first, it seems like a folksong sung by guys on an elephant, but only after the film progresses halfway do you get the full import of the words. The steady, rythmic chant “Mangal Mangal” gives me goosebumps. You can listen to it here.

Soon enough, you are introduced to a visual sight of the socio-economic conditions of “pre-revolt” India….

Enter India of 1857,which stretches from Kabul(modern day Afghanistan) to Cape Comorrin,fully under the monopoly of the English East India Company. Where Indian sepoys are employed to fight and win wars for the company. Where Indian nautch girls are sold like toothpaste in a bazaar. Where an untouchable sweeper is trashed for accidentally touching a Brahmin. Where a young widow is burnt along with the body of her late 80+ husband, under the pretense of “this is her Karma” shit. Where the gora sahibs (white masters) called the poor Indians Kala kutta (black dog) {Oh,please. We’ve had it with the overused comparision of Indians and dogs. Can’t they think of another animal; a hippo, a possum,a blast ended screwt,perhaps?}

The story of Mangal Pandey starts with a gun. But, in the end, its not really about the gun, its about what the gun represents; captivity. This is what the film is trying to say. But, thanks to the innumerable tiring clichés, the distracting side stories {What was that about Gordon doing it with an Indian widow?? Huh??}, the totally “could-have-done-without” song sequences {sexy choreography, though}, few got the message.

In a nut shell, it was okey-dokey.

The last scene, where they hang Mangal and subsequently all of India starts revolting, showing the untouchable sweeper as the first person, is a gem. The love between Mangal and Heera, the courtesan, is maturely developed. Toby Stephens won my heart despite his horrible Hindi accent, and Aamir Khan was, as usual, excellent.

Here is a dialogue, by Mangal, that had me;
“The minds of Indians had gathered rust for a long time, but a little grease awakened them today.”

Wow….
I was thinking about writing about my favourite songs the other day!

The whole story:

I've been tagged by Dane to list my current favourite melodies. I’ll tag five people. You have to follow these instructions:

List five songs that you are currently digging - it doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions and the five songs (with artist) in your blog. Then tag five people to see what they're listening to.

I’ll go two steps out of the line, and list out top 5 songs in my head right now,but for your convinience,I’ll also include a few lines of the song and links. These are not current charttoppers, but thats me.I never like songs the minute they are released.

Ok. Here goes:

On the 5th place is:

Here I am by Bryan Adams
This song gives me a sense of freedom and also reminds me of my new year resolutions! Here’s how it goes:

Here I am,This is me,
There’s nowhere else on Earth
I’d rather be.
Here I am,just me and you,
Tonight we make our dreams come true.

On the 4th place:

Main Yahaan Hoon(I'm here*not Here I am*) from the film VeerZaara

This is a very romantic song. Not hot,but romantic.Makes my hairs stand on end every single time.

Tum chupa na sakogi main vo raaz hoon,
/I'm a secret you can't hide/
Tum bhula na sakogi vo andaaz hoon,

/I'm a person you can never forget/
Goonjtha hoon yu dil mein to hairaan ho kyu,
/Why are you surprise to find me calling in your heart/
Main tumhare hi dil ki to awaaz hoon.
/I'm nothing but the voice of your heart/

On the 3rd place:

Lemon tree by Fools Garden
This is a song I like to listen when I’m blogging.Its a cool,laidback kind of a song.

I'm sittin' here in the boring room
It's just another rainy sunday afternoon
I'm wasting my time, I got nothing to do
I'm hanging around, I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder....

On the 2nd place:

Yeh safar from 1942-A love story
When I’m sad,angry,jealous,stressed,scared,etc..this song comes to my rescue. Its a beautiful song.

Yeh sitam ki raat hai dhal ne ko
/This night of pain is about to set/
Hai andhera gham ka pighal ne ko
/The darkness of sorrow is about to melt/
Zara der is me lage agar
/And if this takes a little more time/
Na udaas ho mere humsafar
/Don’t despair, my love/
Yeh safar bahut hai kathin magar,na udaas ho mere humsafar
/This journey is very tough but, don’t despair, my love/

Just listen to this, even if you don’t understand the words.Tell me if it calmed you.

On the 1st place:

Toss the feathers by the corrs-This instrumental made me a fan of Irish music. It rocks!

Now,to announce the “taggees”.

I tag:
Micheala

G_samsa

Angery butterfly

Spinning Girl

Heather

You're time starts now.
